  • Park Fee or Valid Pass – Standard national park fees range from $20-$30. You can purchase an America The Beautiful annual pass that allows access to any national park.

Ticketed entry will run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. You are able to enter the park without a timed entry ticket before 7 a.m. or after 4 p.m.. The park is open 24/7. To purchase your timed entry ticket, visit recreation.gov.

Tips for Visiting Arches National Park:

  • Visit Early or Late: Sunrise and sunset offer the best light for photography and fewer crowds. Delicate Arch at sunrise is particularly popular for photography.
  • Explore the Trails: Some popular trails include Delicate Arch, Landscape Arch, and the Devil’s Garden. Read our guide on top hikes in Arches National Park.
  • Stargazing: Arches has some of the darkest skies in the world and is great for stargazing. Consider a nighttime visit if you’re interested in astrophotography.

Canyonlands National Park

Reservations are not required at Canyonlands National Park. You will have to pay the national park fee. Standard national park fees range from $20-$30. You can purchase an America The Beautiful annual pass that allows access to any national park.

Canyonlands National Park is made up of three sections. Island in the Sky, in the north of the park, is about 40 minutes from the town of Moab. The Needles district is in the southeast corner of Canyonlands, about 90 minutes from the town of Moab UT. The Maze district, in the west of the park, is the most remote and challenging to get to. All roads in The Maze require high-clearance 4WD.

Tips for Visiting Canyonlands National Park:

  • Check out the Visitor Center: Start at the Island in the Sky Visitor Center to get maps, current trail conditions, and additional information.
  • Pack Essentials: Bring plenty of water, sun protection, and snacks. The park is remote, and services are limited.
  • Explore Scenic Drives: Take the scenic drive along the mesa for breathtaking views. Key overlooks include Grand View Point, Green River Overlook, and Mesa Arch.

  • What is the weather like?

Please be sure to check the weather before arriving and pack accordingly for all weather conditions. Due to the remote locations and high altitudes of many of our camps, the weather can be unpredictable. Occasionally, in a very dry summer, a fire ban can be in effect for a specific location. We recommend that you come prepared for colder evenings, particularly if using your wood stove becomes impossible due to fire restrictions.

  • Is there electricity in the tents?

In order to provide an experience that allows guests to disconnect and feel truly immersed in nature, and to minimize the use of precious resources, there is no electricity or outlets in the tents. However, there are battery-powered fans and lanterns with USB plugs so you can charge at least two cell phones. USB-C charging adaptors are available upon request on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be sure to bring your own charging cable if you require anything other than a USB. If you need a powered battery for a CPAP or medical device, just let us know in advance of your stay so that we can request one. Powered batteries are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Do the tents have air conditioning?

Our tents do not have air conditioning. If you are visiting in the summer please keep this in mind. They do have USB fans and misting systems to help cool the tents a little.

  • Is there Wi-Fi?

At Under Canvas we believe connecting with those around us and exploring the great outdoors is invaluable. For this reason, we do not have any Wi-Fi at any of our locations.

Want to unplug, be present, and unwind? Check out our Camp Programming page for an example list of on-site activities that may be offered during your stay.

  • What is the weather like in Moab?

Be sure to check the weather forecast before your trip and pack appropriately for the diverse conditions you may encounter. Moab’s unique high desert climate can bring unpredictable weather, especially at the varying elevations of our camps. During particularly dry spells, fire bans are sometimes enforced. We advise being prepared for chilly nights, as fire restrictions may prevent the use of wood stoves.
