Outside Together with Compass Outdoors

This month, we’re excited to bring back our ‘Outside Together’ series, featuring guests who have recently visited Under Canvas as they share the fun and beautiful moments that made their trips so special.

Joining us today are Cameron and Sierra Grad, also known as @pnwcompass on Instagram. As avid outdoor enthusiasts who wanted to share their love for the natural world and inspire others to connect with it in meaningful ways, they established Compass Outdoors as a platform to promote bucket list adventures. Read on to learn more about their Under Canvas Zion getaway.

Tell us what #OutsideTogether means to you.

#OutsideTogether is a similar concept as to why we started CompassOutdoors in the first place. It all started with a shared love for the outdoors and getting our friends together to go on adventures. The outdoors are for everyone and being able to share the beauty of our world with others is priceless!

What was your favorite part about Under Canvas Zion?

It’s really hard to choose our favorite part! We had so many wonderful experiences. From the unique location (only 30 minutes from the park entrance), to the amazing staff who were so helpful with recommendations for nightly activities. Plus, the delicious meals on site! We loved that after a day of adventuring, we could come back to our cozy tent and walk around the grounds, which felt like a second home very quickly!

Any must-sees/must-dos in the area?

We highly recommend going to the backcountry of Zion National Park. It is not as busy as the main attractions, and it is where we found time to slow down and really take in the beauty of the area. We also recommend checking out the ghost town in nearby Grafton, as well!

Hiking or yoga? Sunrise or sunset?

We decided to hike the Narrows on one of the days and it was a perfect way to cool down. We recommend wearing socks and water shoes, plus bringing a hiking pole. Both the sunrise and sunset at Under Canvas were so dreamy! We loved the sunset at camp because that meant we would soon be stargazing!

Which Under Canvas location would you choose next and why?

The next Under Canvas location we would choose to travel to would be Glacier or Acadia. We have explored the East Coast and we have seen so many amazing photos/videos of the area. Glacier is one of our top PNW National Parks; it is so grand and beautiful. We have only traveled through twice and would love to explore more of what that national park has to offer!
