S’mores

You’re not truly camping unless there is a campfire and s’mores!

Each of our camps has a community area with a fire pit that we light nightly and provide supplies for s’mores. Our standard-issue s’mores kits include roasting sticks, graham crackers, jumbo marshmallows, and milk chocolate Hershey bars.

Below are a few ideas on how you can glam-up your s’mores and make them truly luxurious.

Caramel S’mores

Ingredients:

  • Graham Crackers
  • Jumbo Marshmallows
  • Ghirardelli Caramel Squares

Directions:

  1. Unwrap one square of caramel chocolate and rest it on a similarly-sized graham cracker – set aside
  2. Place marshmallow on a roasting stick and hover over the fire
  3. Rotate the marshmallow frequently until it reaches your preferred roast level. Some people enjoy a lightly roasted marshmallow, while others prefer to char theirs; just be careful to avoid melting your marshmallow off the stick and into the fire!
  4. Using the roasting stick, carefully remove the marshmallow from the heat and place it on top of the caramel square graham cracker
  5. Place a second graham cracker on top to create a sandwich while removing the roasting stick
  6. Enjoy your s’more!

Peanut Butter S’mores

Ingredients:

  • Graham Crackers
  • Jumbo Marshmallows
  • Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Directions:

This recipe is a simple switch-out of the Hersey bar with a peanut butter cup. We do recommend heating up your marshmallow a little more than usual to account for the extra thickness of the peanut butter cup compared to the chocolate bar.

S’more Alternative

for the non-chocolate/marshmallow lover

Ingredients:

  • Starbursts

Roasted Starbursts may sound odd, but hear us out! When heat is applied to an unwrapped Starburst, the sugary-candy caramelizes creating a brûlée effect. The outside crisps and the inside melts!

Directions:

  1. Unwrap the Starburst and place it on the roasting stick as you would a marshmallow
  2. Hover over the fire, rotating frequently
  3. Remove from heat when you see the outside of the candy start to blister
  4. Carefully, remove from the roasting stick and enjoy!
