Take exit 16 onto UT HWY 9, continue on HWY 9 through the town of Virgin, turn onto the road that has a sign for Kolob Reservoir (this road becomes N. Kolob Road) Under Canvas is 8 miles from HWY 9 on the left. We are 1 mile past Sunset Canyon Ranch. If you reach Zion National Park, you’ve gone too far.
Traveling South on Interstate 15
Take exit 27 to UT HWY 17, turn left on HWY 9 continue and go through the town of Virgin, turn onto the road that has a sign for Kolob Reservoir (this road becomes N. Kolob Road) Under Canvas is 8 miles from HWY 9 on the left. We are 1 mile past Sunset Canyon Ranch. If you reach Zion National Park, you’ve gone too far.
Traveling from Zion National Park
Head South on Zion Park BLVD/ Zion Park Carmel HWY this becomes UT HWY 9, continue on HWY 9, turn onto the road that has a sign for Kolob Reservoir (this road becomes N. Kolob Road) Under Canvas is 8 miles from HWY 9 on the left. We are 1 mile past Sunset Canyon Ranch. If you reach Zion National Park, you’ve gone too far.
Dogs are allowed but The only trail that allows pets is the Pa’rus Trail, which begins at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center. Check out our blog on the Best Ways to Explore Zion With Your Dog.
From November until early spring, Zion Canyon is usually open to vehicles. ALL OTHER sections of the park, including Kolob Canyons, Kolob Terrace Road, and Highway 9 are open to vehicles year-round.
Most people find the best time to visit Zion National Park is between April and November, when the park’s free shuttles are running and the weather is comfortable. Under Canvas Zion is open from March 9 – November 6, 2023 and March 14 – November 4, 2024.
Zion National Park is an 80-mile drive or about an hour and a half away from Bryce Canyon National Park.
