Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Passes and Fees

Reservations are not required at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. You will have to pay the national park fee. Standard national park fees range from $20-$30. You can purchase an America The Beautiful annual pass that allows access to any national park.

Tips for Your Visit to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area: 

  • Plan Ahead: Glen Canyon is a large area with many attractions, including Lake Powell, Rainbow Bridge, and Antelope Canyon. Plan your itinerary based on your interests and the activities you want to do.
  • Check Conditions: Weather and water levels can affect accessibility and activities. Check current conditions and any alerts on the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area’s website before your visit.
  • Hydrate and Protect Yourself: The area can be very hot and dry, especially in summer. Drink plenty of water, use sunscreen, wear a hat, and dress in light, breathable layers.
  • Stay on Designated Trails: For safety and to preserve the park’s natural environment, stick to marked trails and follow guidelines for interacting with wildlife and natural features.

  • Can you swim in Lake Powell?

  • How do I get from Lake Powell to Page, Arizona?

    It is very easy to get to Lake Powell from Page, Arizona! Drive west on highway 89, Then turn right at the sign that says Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

  • Is Lake Powell a national park?

    Lake Powell is not an official national park, but it is part of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and borders Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

  • Are dogs allowed in Grand Staircase Escalante?

  • Is there electricity in the tents?

    In order to provide an experience that allows guests to disconnect and feel truly immersed in nature, and to minimize the use of precious resources, there is no electricity or outlets in the tents. However, there are battery-powered fans and lanterns with USB plugs so you can charge at least two cell phones. USB-C charging adaptors are available upon request on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be sure to bring your own charging cable if you require anything other than a USB. If you need a powered battery for a CPAP or medical device, just let us know in advance of your stay so that we can request one. Powered batteries are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Do the tents have air conditioning?

    Our tents do not have air conditioning. If you are visiting in the summer please keep this in mind. They do have USB fans and misting systems to help cool the tents a little.

     

  • Is there Wi-Fi?

    At Under Canvas we believe connecting with those around us and exploring the great outdoors is invaluable. For this reason, we do not have any Wi-Fi at any of our locations.

  • What is the weather like at Lake Powell?

    Please be sure to check the weather before arriving and pack accordingly for all weather conditions. Given Lake Powell’s remote location and varying altitudes, the weather can be unpredictable. Occasionally, during very dry periods, a fire ban may be in effect for this area. We recommend coming prepared for colder evenings, especially since using your wood stove may be restricted during fire bans.

From Page, AZ take US-89 N/W for 15.7 miles. Once you reach Big Water, UT, turn left onto Ethan Allen Road, then take your first right onto South Jacob Tank Road. Follow that road past the visitors’ center and to the end of the road where Under Canvas Lake Powell-Grand Staircase is located.
