  • Do you allow dogs at Under Canvas Acadia?

Yes! We only allow dogs. We have a $25 fee per dog, per night. Service animals are welcome, free of charge. We ask that you please keep your dog on a leash, clean up after them, and do not leave them unattended in your tent at any time.

Park Passes can be purchased at the entry gate to Acadia National Park. We do not sell them but we can always give recommendations on things to do in the park!

  • What is Acadia National Park known for?

Known as the “Crown Jewel” of the North Atlantic Coast, Acadia National Park is a bucket-list worthy spot every traveler should explore. With over 120 miles of hiking trails, 45 miles of carriage roads, and 3.5 million visits each year, it’s among the top 10 most-visited national parks in the U.S. for good reason.

  • When to visit Acadia National Park?

The best time to visit Acadia National Park is May through October, when the weather is comfortable. Under Canvas Acadia is open May 9 – October 7, 2024.

  • What is the weather like?

Please be sure to check the weather before arriving and pack accordingly for all weather conditions. Due to the remote locations and high altitudes of many of our camps, the weather can be unpredictable. Occasionally, in a very dry summer, a fire ban can be in effect for a specific location. We recommend that you come prepared for colder evenings, particularly if using your wood stove becomes impossible due to fire restrictions.

  • Is there electricity in the tents?

In order to provide an experience that allows guests to disconnect and feel truly immersed in nature, and to minimize the use of precious resources, there is no electricity or outlets in the tents. However, there are battery-powered fans and lanterns with USB plugs so you can charge at least two cell phones. USB-C charging adaptors are available upon request on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be sure to bring your own charging cable if you require anything other than a USB. If you need a powered battery for a CPAP or medical device, just let us know in advance of your stay so that we can request one. Powered batteries are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Is there Wi-Fi?

At Under Canvas we believe connecting with those around us and exploring the great outdoors is invaluable. For this reason, we do not have any Wi-Fi at any of our locations.

Want to unplug, be present, and unwind? Check out our Camp Programming page for an example list of on-site activities that may be offered during your stay.

  • Do the tents have air conditioning?

Our tents do not have air conditioning. If you are visiting in the summer please keep this in mind. They do have USB fans and misting systems to help cool the tents a little.

  • What should I pack?

Be sure to check the weather before arriving and pack accordingly for all weather conditions. You may want to bring quality hiking shoes, backpacks, water bottles and a USB cell phone charging cord to use with the USB battery packs in your tent. Rain jackets are also advised, just in case! But not to worry, our tents are fully weatherized and are capable of handling common rainstorms. If you want a full packing list for the location you are visiting, check out the packing lists on our blog.

  • What is the food like? Do you have gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options?

There is something for everyone on our menu, including vegetarian choices, gluten-free options, and nightly specials. Enjoy seasonally rotating breakfast and dinner options (ranging from salads to burgers to roasted trout) at our on-site restaurant along with grab n’ go lunch items available daily in the lobby.
