Under Canvas Glacier is a 10-minute drive to the West Entrance of Glacier National Park

  • Are dogs allowed in Glacier National Park?

Pets are allowed in developed areas such as: in your cars while driving park roads, picnic areas, along roads when you are stopped, in parking areas, and in boats on lakes where motorized watercraft are permitted. Check out our blog on Things to Do Outside of Glacier National Park.

  • Do you allow dogs at Under Canvas Glacier?

Yes! We only allow dogs. We have a $25 fee per dog, per night. Service animals are welcome, free of charge. We ask that you please keep your dog on a leash, clean up after them, and do not leave them unattended in your tent at any time.

  • When is the best time to visit Glacier National Park?

Most people consider late-June through mid-September the best time to visit Glacier, because they can drive Going-to-the-Sun Road, raft and fish the rivers, hike the trails, and explore the park. Under Canvas Glacier is open from June 6 – September 9, 2024.

  • Where do you fly into for Glacier National Park?

Glacier Park International Airport, Kalispell, MT (40 minutes from Under Canvas Glacier).

  • What is the weather like?

Please be sure to check the weather before arriving and pack accordingly for all weather conditions. Due to the remote locations and high altitudes of many of our camps, the weather can be unpredictable. Occasionally, in a very dry summer, a fire ban can be in effect for a specific location. We recommend that you come prepared for colder evenings, particularly if using your wood stove becomes impossible due to fire restrictions.

  • Do the tents have air conditioning?

Our tents do not have air conditioning. If you are visiting in the summer please keep this in mind. They do have USB fans and misting systems to help cool the tents a little.

  • Is there electricity in the tents?

In order to provide an experience that allows guests to disconnect and feel truly immersed in nature, and to minimize the use of precious resources, there is no electricity or outlets in the tents. However, there are battery-powered fans and lanterns with USB plugs so you can charge at least two cell phones. USB-C charging adaptors are available upon request on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be sure to bring your own charging cable if you require anything other than a USB. If you need a powered battery for a CPAP or medical device, just let us know in advance of your stay so that we can request one. Powered batteries are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • What is the food like at Under Canvas Glacier? Do you have gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options?

There is something for everyone on our menu, including vegetarian choices, gluten-free options, and nightly specials. Enjoy seasonally rotating breakfast and dinner options (ranging from fresh turkey sandwiches to pulled pork bowls) at our on-site restaurant along with grab n’ go lunch items available daily in the lobby.

  • Is there Wi-Fi?

At Under Canvas we believe connecting with those around us and exploring the great outdoors is invaluable. For this reason, we do not have any Wi-Fi at any of our locations.

Want to unplug, be present, and unwind? Check out our Camp Programming page for an example list of on-site activities that may be offered during your stay.

  • What should I pack?

Be sure to check the weather before arriving and pack accordingly for all weather conditions. You may want to bring quality hiking shoes, backpacks, water bottles and a USB cell phone charging cord to use with the USB battery packs in your tent. Rain jackets are also advised, just in case! But not to worry, our tents are fully weatherized and are capable of handling common rainstorms.
