When you head out into nature and leave the modern world behind, you’re able to connect with your best outdoor self, your family, your loved ones, and the beauty of the natural world that surrounds you.
Back with our Outside Together series which speaks to our beliefs that nature is the best architect and unique experiences strengthen relationships, we’re sharing memories of a desert getaway to Under Canvas Lake Powell-Grand Staircase and Under Canvas Zion, two of our Grand Circle locations!
Joining us is Margo Oshry (@margoshry on Instagram)—a content creator and entrepreneur born and raised in New York City, NY. Needing a change of pace outside the big city, Margo and her friends came together for a restorative getaway filled with bonding time in nature. A lover of travel, Margo raved about her experience with Under Canvas, as well as the incredible outdoor adventures to be had in the Lake Powell and Zion areas!
It was a joy to experience this adventure-filled trip through Margo’s eyes and we’re so excited to share some more about her Under Canvas Lake Powell-Grand Staircase and Under Canvas Zion getaway!
Check out some of her answers to our series questions.
1. Tell us what #OutsideTogether means to you…
To me, Outside Together means connecting with those around you and your surroundings in a way you didn’t think you could. The landscapes and property just really put life in perspective. I can’t explain it, but I can see there’s just so much more to life after spending time connecting in nature with loved ones. This truly was the trip of a lifetime!
2. What was your favorite part about your stay at Under Canvas?
The breathtaking views… the grounds for each camp were absolutely stunning and pictures don’t do it justice. Under Canvas was such a luxe stay, they take glamping to a whole new level. There’s even a bathroom and shower in your tent! They also have food, coffee and alcohol all on-site. The food was amazing and the Bluestone Lane coffee was an added bonus!
3. Any must-sees/must-dos in the area?
In Lake Powell we did a kayaking, hiking, and swimming tour on Antelope Island. The next day we had a boat day filled with skiing, tubing and wakeboarding on Lake Powell. After that we did a tour of Lower Antelope Canyon, which was breathtaking. The lighting was beautiful shining down in the slot canyon.
In Zion we booked a Canyoneering adventure through Under Canvas! Be sure to ask for Josh as your Guide. We also booked an ATV tour and hiked the Narrows. At night we enjoyed dinner at Under Canvas and hung out under the stars!
5. Top 3 things to pack for a stay with Under Canvas?
I would definitely pack warm clothes for night time, the desert cools down more than you think! And then lots of work out clothes, sunblock & flashlight for night time adventures.
6. Which Under Canvas location would you choose next, and why?
I want to check out Yellowstone and Moab next!
We are looking forward to having you again Margo! Follow along with us on Instagram for more of our #OutsideTogether series and subscribe to our newsletter for updates on everything to come at Under Canvas.
