Directions from Mount Rushmore National Memorial
Head down the hill from the memorial, East on SD-244. About 3 miles down you’ll drive past a strip of stores on your right. Turn RIGHT at Cemetery Rd. You’ll see a big white building, the Roosevelt Inn, which will then be on your left side after the turn. You’ll also see an Under Canvas sign on your right. Follow the dirt road for about a mile, looking out for the Under Canvas signs to guide you. It’s a short 14-minute drive to the camp from Mount Rushmore National Memorial.
*Please note that Apple Maps and Google Maps occasionally routes arriving guests through Custer State Park or Greyhound Gulch Rd. Please route to Keystone, SD and take Cemetery Rd. off of Hwy 16A to Presidio Ranch Rd. You will see Under Canvas signs if you are on the right route.
Directions from Rapid City, South Dakota
Take Highway 16 West towards Keystone for about 20 miles. Turn LEFT at Cemetery Rd. You’ll see a big white building, the Roosevelt Inn, which will then be on your left side after your left turn. You’ll also see an Under Canvas sign on your right. Follow the road for about a mile, looking out for the Under Canvas signs to guide you.

What time does Mount Rushmore open?
Mount Rushmore National Memorial is open from 5 a.m. – 9 p.m. You can also see Mount Rushmore from the viewing deck at Under Canvas Mount Rushmore. During the summer you can experience Mount Rushmore’s lighting ceremony. This program is held nightly from late May through the end of September.

Are dogs allowed at Mount Rushmore?
Dogs are allowed only within the two pet walking areas at Mount Rushmore National Memorial. There are also plenty of dog-friendly activities to do when visiting the Black Hills of South Dakota!
